storms embraceThe rain is coming down harder now. I turn my back to the wind, shield my face from the storm but not even the fire in my lungs can keep this cigarette lit. I nurse one last drag and flick it to the floor. The cigarette hisses as it hits the wet ground. The glow of the tip turning black and cold, as my eyes do. I step forward to the edge and exhale for the last time. The breath hangs in the air the last time I’d breathe for you.storms embrace
